Fulton Volleyball Association (FVA)

FVA began in late 1970's to promote organized volleyball in Oswego County.  The league became one of the prominent leagues in the Central New York region and boasted teams from Syracuse University, Morrisville College, Oswego State, Liverpool High School boys, Oswego High School boys, Fulton High School girls, a league sponsored Fulton High School boys team and other local competitive teams.

At one time the league carried as many as 24 teams and utilized 3 separate gyms, Fairgrieve School, Junior High School and the Fulton War Memorial.  The league was thriving until the late 1990's when it began to reduce in size as many of the local players and teams dropped out.  Competition also declined and by the Spring of 2007 the league only carried 11 teams.

In the spring of 2007 the league decided to take a new direction to begin to rebuild the league into the competitive organization that was known as FVA.  The major challenge was accommodating new teams and maintaining reasonable scheduling and having gym access.  FVA has been able to accommodate new teams and should be able to handle up to 24 teams in 4 leagues.

The league will consist of 4 leagues (up to 6 teams each), women's, men's and two levels of co-ed.

By the fall 2007, the league regained almost all of the 24 teams and consisted of 20 teams; (6) women's teams and (12) co-ed teams with a couple men's teams.  The league has again gained back a number of new teams and players.  The only league remaining that needs rebuilding is a competitive men's league.
